Steps to a Smoother Financial Aid Process
Financial Aid

These steps are a general guideline.
The process typically takes 2 to 3 months to complete.
Your Financial Aid process may include more steps or less, depending on your eligibility and when you begin the process.

STEP 1: Apply early!

File the FAFSA early!  For the Fall and Spring terms, FAFSA applications  should be submitted to the Department of Education before April 1st.   (HINT:  You do not need to file your taxes before you fill out the FAFSA, but you must have your taxes complete before we can award you aid.)   Remember to list Tyler Junior College on the college list.  Our school code is 003648To complete the application online visit www.fafsa.ed.gov.

You must be accepted to Tyler Junior College to be eligible for financial aid.  Apply for admissions as soon as you know you want to take classes.

STEP 2: Contact the Registrar's office to make sure official copies of all college or high school transcripts are on record.  If you have not had an official transcript sent to Tyler Junior College, please call your high school or previous college and put in a request. NOT HAVING YOUR TRANSCRIPTS ON RECORD WILL DELAY YOUR FINANCIAL AID!

STEP 3:  Review the Student Aid Report for correct information and wait for a letter from TJC Financial Aid Office. (**If you do not receive a letter within 2-3 weeks of receiving your Student Aid Report, contact The Financial Aid Office for instructions.)

STEP 4:  Download all requested information according to the instructions listed on the web.

Any missing information WILL cause delay in the processing of your financial aid!

STEP 5:  Turn in the completed packet to the TJC Financial Aid Office.

STEP 6:  Make sure the Registrar’s office has a current, correct mailing address ! This step is very important if you move.  All mail is sent to the address we have on file and returned mail delays processing.  If you need to contact the Registrar's office, please call (903) 510-2404.

STEP 7:  Respond to any letters requesting additional information. (**If you do not receive a letter and 2-3 weeks have passed since you turned in your packet, please  check Campus Connect for missing information.)

STEP 8:  Award letter received from the Financial Aid Office or view awards on Campus Connect.

STEP 9:  ONLY for those who requested loans: Complete ELC, if neccessary, and a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for your loan online at https://lbw.tgslc.org/LBW/start.do
